Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) Update
Hello Fellow Cornell Alums! Below is a message from the Cornell Alumni Admissions Network (CAAAN).
If you would like more information on CAAAN through the Cornell Club of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, please contact our CAAAN Director Dr. Larry Reese at MacDegen@gmail.com.
Dear CAAAN Member,
Hello from Ithaca. Fall is here and another admissions cycle is upon us. I hope this note finds you happy, healthy, and eager to help recruit another amazing group of students. CAAAN activity was once again record-breaking last year, as you contacted over 19,000 applicants for the Class of 2015. We sincerely appreciate all of your efforts on behalf of the Undergraduate Admissions Office and Cornell. We could not recruit and yield so many wonderful students without you!
Here are a few of the important changes and reminders for this year:
- It is critical that you review the Guidelines and Best Practices for CAAAN volunteers and use it to guide your efforts with CAAAN.
- The Undergraduate Admissions website is redesigned and is an excellent resource for you as you prepare to meet with students. We’ve made the site more interactive and we’ve also made important information easier to find. A few links that you might find particularly helpful are: Admission Requirements, Academics, and FAQ.
- We encourage families to use our new Financial Aid Estimator to estimate their eligibility for need-based aid from Cornell. The CAAAN website has been reorganized in an effort to make critical information easier to find. Please remember to visit the site regularly to utilize the great resources and keep your knowledge fresh.
- We’ve updated the New Training/Update Presentations for both new and experienced CAAAN members. The topics addressed include CAAAN’s mission and structure, CAAAN Contacts, and recent updates from campus. The presentations are available as three links in the upper left corner of the CAAAN website.
- Financial Aid Initiatives: Don’t forget that Cornell will match parent contributions and loan levels for students admitted to both Cornell and another Ivy institution. We’re excited to offer students the opportunity to make their enrollment decisions based on interest and not strictly finances. We’ve summarized this and other recent financial aid initiatives in a Financial Aid Update on the CAAAN website.
- The CAAAN Calendar for the 2011-2012 admissions cycle is now available. Please pay careful attention to the contact report deadlines, as there are some minor changes this year.
- If any of your contact information changes, please be sure to use the Update Address/Contact Info link on the CAAAN website.
Thank you again for volunteering with CAAAN!
If you have any CAAAN-specific questions, please use the CAAAN Chair Directory to contact your local committee chair. Committee chairs.
